Hub City Teens.com is a lifestyle and social network site founded in 2009 by a group of El Nido Family Centers teens/youth from Compton who wanted to create a website to connect with other youth. The site includes authentic content and stories from real teens/youth facing hard challenges, but who are committed to improving their lives and helping each other to make it to the next level in life "Teens inspiring Teens."
The goal of the site is to empower youth by providing/creating a space where youth can voice their concerns and to help youth initiate positive change in their communities.
The site also provides youth with a place to share their likes and dislikes, their favorite movies, bands, video games, etc. In addition, hubcityteens.com provides valuable information about nutrition and fitness, teen pregnancy prevention, teen parenting, youth employemnt, education and scholarships and other issues that affect and interest teens.
The genesis of the project was a collaboration between El Nido youth mentored by Saul Figueroa and the Maverick Angels, an angel investor club represented by Founder and President John Dilts, Fred Samulon (an El Nido Board Member) and Brian Wurfel, Maverick Angels Chief of Operations.
Mission:
